Why you shouldn’t start a rolled ATV

I saw in the manual that if you roll the machine, you shouldn't restart it and should take it to a dealer right away. I get checking the oil and looking things over, though is there something specific i need to watch out for? I just want to know what's actually at risk if I have to get it running again out in the woods. I got the CanAm DPS. Thanks

well, the biggest risk is oil getting into the combustion chamber. When an engine rolls over, oil can flood the cylinder.
If you hit the starter, the piston tries to compress a liquid, which it can't, and you'll bend a connecting rod. That's definitely a way to total the engine

Hydrolocking is one thing, but if that doesn't happen, there's a risk of oil starvation. Taking it to the dealer is recommended, but some people tend to wait it out for the oil to back into the pan, check the levels and try to restart it. it's risky, but if you do it right you might be good.
